Hello, I’m Erica.

A warm, qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering gentle, evidence-based support to individuals, couples, teens
and families across Haddenham (near Ely) and online.

ABOUT ME

Get to know me

I’m a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Haddenham (near Ely), Cambridgeshire. For more than 30 years I’ve worked across the NHS, with more than 20 years of dedicated psychotherapy practice — with individuals, couples, families, teenagers and parents (I do not work with primary-aged children directly — I support their parents instead) — supporting them through anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship strain, grief, life transitions and so much more.

My approach is integrative, which means I draw on the best techniques from a range of evidence-based therapies — mainly CBT and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) — and tailor them to you. No two people are the same, and no two stories are either.

I’m also a Mum myself, and I know first-hand just how hard parenting can be at times. Whatever brings you here, I promise to meet you with warmth, kindness and zero judgement.

MY STORY

A journey rooted in care, curiosity and compassion

My path into therapy began in mental health nursing more than three decades ago, working alongside people during some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Over the years, that experience deepened into a calling — and for the past 20+ years, I have practised as a psychotherapist, walking gently with adults, couples, teens and parents through anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship strain and the many quiet challenges of being human.

Alongside my NHS background, I am also trained as a teacher and a parent myself — so I understand, first-hand, the layered pressures of family life. I bring all of this to the therapy room: clinical depth, real-world warmth, and a strong belief that everyone deserves a place to be properly heard.

MY APPROACH

Gentle, integrative, evidence-based

No two stories are the same, so therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches — and tailor each session to you.

Integrative & Tailored

I blend CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and humanistic methods to suit your unique story — never a one-size-fits-all formula.

Warm & Non-judgemental

My therapy room is a safe, confidential and gentle space. You can bring whatever feels heavy — no topic is too big or too small.

Practical & Empowering

Beyond talking, you’ll leave with real tools, insights and strategies you can carry into everyday life and lasting change.

MEET MY THERAPY CAT

A gentle, grounding companion

She often joins our sessions, loves curling up on a lap, and brings a wonderfully calming presence to the room. Many clients find her quiet company surprisingly grounding.

If you have any cat allergies, please let me know in advance — we can easily make alternative arrangements.

BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM

A little about me

When I am not in session, you will find me walking the dog, or rowing on the beautiful river near to me; sometimes I am pottering in the garden, or curled up with a coffee with my cat Sasha on my lap. Family time and being out doors, enjoying the wildlife and birds on the river, always brings me peace, allowing me to have some mindful moments and keep me grounded.

I genuinely believe that therapy works best when it feels human. I am not here to sit silently behind a clipboard. I am here to listen, to gently challenge, to laugh with you, sit with you in the hard parts, and walk beside you as you find your way forward.
